A source previously told the Daily Star Gemma was among the well-known faces that TV bosses were eager to sign for the show.
They said: 'We want big and exciting stars and The GC is popular and we reckon she makes entertaining viewing. More important, she can sing.
'Simon has handled many divas over the years with the likes of Sharon Osbourne and Mel B, so we reckon he will be able to deal with this Essex one.'
Gemma is no stranger to performing on stage and previously appeared on an episode of recently axed BBC One singing series All Together Now.

As part of the celebrity line-up, Gemma was tasked with trying to impress as many of The 100 - the judging panel hosted by Ginger Spice Geri Horner - up on their feet and singing along.
The Dancing On Ice contestant's rendition of the Shirley Bassey classic managed to get a whopping score of 88 per cent, and fans soon took to Twitter to discuss their surprise over Gemma's impressive vocal chords.
Gemma's Syco meeting comes after Love Actually actress Olivia Olson, who played school girl Joanna in the film, was also said to be in talks to join the series.

Other famous faces who could potentially join Olivia includes Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon, and a supergroup made up of Love Island contestants Wes Nelson, Zara McDermott, Eyal Booker, and Samira Mighty.
The celebrity version of the show will not be the first time well-known names will have taken part in the show.
The X Factor: Battle Of The Stars aired on ITV in 2006 with Kate Thornton has host with Simon Cowell, Sharon Osborne and Louis Walsh serving as judges.

Meanwhile, Gemma has lots to look forward to as she is soon to be heading to Los Angeles to film her six-part show which follows her as she tries to crack America.
According to The Sun, her good friend Naughty Boy will also be appearing on the show as he tries to help her to become a pop star.
Gemma follows the likes of fellow TOWIE star, Mark Wright who managed to land a job as an Extra! host alongside Mario Lopez in the US.
